"Smoking guns hot to the touch..."

Here's where I occasionally post songs that I find hot at the moment, be it I learned to play them or they came on the shuffle.

November 16th, 2023. "Out of Touch" by Daryl Hall & John Oates

Since today is the first Thursday of of this page's existence I thought I'd get to making the obvious post in regards to stuff I'm bumping through the box today. This is my favourite Hall & Oates song of all time with some of their deeper cuts like "I Hear the Voices", "Missed Opportunity" and "Go Solo" following close behind. Granted I think my favourite record of theirs is probably H2O given it's categorical tie in with my discipline as well as just how many hot tracks they have stacked up on top of one another on there, it easly could've been a greatest hits album lol. Anyways this song came out on October 4th, 1984 which was in fact a Thursday. Next year, October 4th 2024 lands on a Thursday as well and it'll mark 40 years of the song being released so I'll probably be sure to do something special for that day. Other than that it's a pretty cool four minute and four second track (lots of fours in regards to this song lol) that has a D dorian hue to it with the major IV chord (G major) in the false cadence within the chorus as well as the inflection chord in the verses.

Here's me playing a loose arrangement of the song that I charted myself. It's such a fun tune to rip out on keys I can only imagine how good it sounds on a real moog or something

That bridge in the album version that shifts between a Dsus4 and a Dminor is also pretty neat and aetherial sounding. structure wise it's a pretty simple diddy but it really gets you moving especially when played on a Thursday. I was also born on a Thursday according to calendars from the year so I feel obligated to enjoy every Thursday I get to spend with this song before I inevitably go and perhaps this page will remain as a testament to my existence. So to aliens or whoever is reading this in the far future I hope my music tastes arent too kitsch haha. Happy first Out of Touch Thursday and to many more!.

November 14th, 2023. "Rock The Casbah" by The Clash

Used my regarded sleep schedule as an excuse to learn the intro to this, the verses and chorus are pretty easy arrangements in the key of A minor, the intro is honestly the hardest part of the song lol but once you get it it sounds so cool

Here's me playing the intro :3
